Kaye Jensen fabricated her story. The statements she made to the investigating officers at the time of her alleged incident were so filled with discrepancies that  Detective Eskridge closed the case in 1980 as unfounded.   Four years later he revived the case and added it to his "serial rapist" scenario against Ewing.  To make the "rape" seem like a real incident, Eskridge withheld Six pages of the Jensen Police Report.  In an attempt to hide his actions he renumbered the pages on the report he gave to the defense.

Other miscarriages of justice in the Jensen case:

bulletWashtenaw County Prosecutors were shocked to learn that the report was withheld...but still refused to dismiss the case.
bulletThe original suspect composite was withheld and subsequently destroyed.
bulletThe rape kit appears to have been tampered with.
bulletThe "victim" was coached to identify Ewing...in spite of twice failing a physical lineup.
bulletThe physical evidence was destroyed.

Michigan Supreme Court Order  In typical Michigan Supreme Court fashion, the conviction was upheld.
