At the time of her attack, Carol Wright was interviewed numerous times by police officers, medical personnel, and representatives from the rape crisis center.  She also attended police lineups between 1979 and 1983. There are no entries on any report that state or even hint that she "saw her attacker prior to the day of the attack (7/30/79)."  Yet, when questioned five years after the fact, she testified to a new set of circumstances that lent support to her weak ID of Ewing.

Carol Wight's "new" testimony to support weak IDCarol Wright's preliminary hearing testimony (8/29/84) is unsubstantiated. Even Ewing's attorney, Don Ferris, noted his surprise by commenting.

Wright got very little time to see her attacker.

Had Carol Wright not made up the story about seeing her attacker on two occasions her testimony would not have been strong enough to support an ID of Ewing.  The only time she saw her attacker was for a brief moment before he grabbed her.
